Search Begins for Austin Supernanny

Local Agency to Hold Top Nanny Contest

Austin, Texas –Mom’s Best Friend, Austin’s largest and most established nanny agency, announced today that they will be holding an Austin Supernanny contest to recognize the best caregiver in the central Texas area. Beginning today, the agency will be accepting video essays and biographical applications from Austin’s finest professional nannies, from which they will determine the contest’s top five finalists. The contest will continue with an interview of the finalists and conclude with the announcement of the winner on October 25th at Mom’s Best Friend’s Annual Nanny Recognition Fall Festival.
           “While the Supernanny from the ABC television program is very effective, we know first-hand that we have amazing, professional nannies right here in Austin,” said Mom’s Best Friend president Kathy Dupuy. “Our goal is to raise awareness within the community about the nanny profession, to shine a light on the heroes in our own homes.”
          On the popular reality series after which the Austin Supernanny contest is named, Jo Frost demonstrates to parents ways of disciplining their children and maintaining order in their households. Mom’s Best Friend’s contest, however, will look for the best “all-around” nanny. The main criteria for judging will be experience, dedication, creativity, professionalism, organization, a heart for service, and an engaging, warm personality. The top five finalists will also complete in-person interviews and undergo reference and background checks before a winner is named.
        “Our organization strives to educate the public and elevate the nanny profession,” said Annie Davis, president of the national Association of Premier Nanny Agencies. “The nannies that our member agencies place are professional, experienced, and they deserve a great deal of credit for the work they do with children.”
            Mom’s Best Friend was founded in Austin in 1994 and has provided nannies and sitters to thousands of local families. They were voted Best Nanny Service by the Austin Family Magazine Reader's Poll six times since the poll began in 2000, most recently in 2007. Mom’s Best Friend also has offices in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
            Applications for the Supernanny contest are due October 2nd, and in-person interviews will be completed the week of October 8th – 12th. The winner of the Supernanny contest will be honored at the Annual Nanny Recognition Fall Festival on October 25th, and will be awarded a one-year membership to the International Nanny Association ($85 value), along with other valuable prizes contributed by local vendors.
