Companionship

Senior with companion caregiverWe recruit carefully and work very hard to screen out caregivers who do not have a special place in their heart for Seniors. We do random spot checks on a weekly basis to ensure client satisfaction and caregiver motivation. We have a tremendous reputation for being able to find “special” people to come alongside our client families and really help. Whether you need a steady companion or just someone to check in on you or your loved one from time to time, Mom’s Best Friend is the agency to call.

Medication Reminders

Many seniors are on important medications and they need to be reminded to take them on a daily basis. Having an MBF caregiver in the home on a regular basis is the best way to ensure your loved one is staying on track with their medications.

Light Housekeeping and Home Revitalization

Passivity is the enemy. When caregivers get passive, they miss opportunities to radically improve the lives of seniors by just helping out around the house. Our training program focuses on building caregivers who take the initiative in the home and transform the living spaces of our clients on an active, consistent basis. We deal with typical problems in the senior home such as pet dander, odor eradication, dilapidation issues, yard and garden maintenance, cost of living management.

Executive Laundry including Apparel Selection and Management

As the years go by, clothing and apparel can become a secondary issue. But we realize that many of our clients have lived their entire lives with high standards in this regard. We help our senior clients keep their wardrobe fresh and up to date. Our caregivers learn how to manage a wardrobe and keep it appropriate and functional.

Caregiver preparing mealAppetizing Light Meals and Grocery Shopping

As we get older, our meals become more and more important. This time in life provides a special opportunity to savor good food. It often means more than it did earlier in life because of diminishing physical abilities. But, it doesn’t really matter how old you are: nobody wants bland or mediocre food. As part of our senior care training program, our caregivers are provided with basic training on appetizing menus for our clients. They learn everything from how to shop for goods and produce, to the actual preparation of the meals and the cleanup. All dietary issues will be managed in accordance with any restrictions or special needs, but we do not provide a dietician except through referral. If clients are seeking a more advanced level of culinary knowledge, including specialized menu and dietary planning, they may utilize our Personal Chef services at an additional cost.

Mobility and Executive Transportation Services

Caregiver grocery shoppingMobility is another critical issue for seniors. Our caregivers assist you or your loved one with walking, exercising, getting into or out of bed or into or out of a wheelchair, if necessary. As far as auto transportation, you need a professional, safe and easy way to do shopping, errands and doctor’s appointments. MBF caregivers are all licensed in the State of Texas and they undergo additional training on how to best transport seniors. They are required at all times to have their license, registration and insurance on them and to keep their personal automobile regularly inspected and in good driving condition. They may also drive the client’s auto upon request. MBF requires that all clients agree to keep adequate insurance and a car that is in good working condition. We also refer some Premium Transporation Services beyond what MBF can provide such as limousines, suburbans and/or vans for additional needs at an additional cost. Additionally, when our caregivers provide any transportation services, there will be an additional $.75 per mile fee. Pricing for special, out-of-town, or extended travel is quoted on an as-needed basis.

Assistance with Daily Activities of Living (including Bathing/Restroom Assistance)

Our MBF Team Member is there to assist with any of the most basic needs of daily living. This usually varies from client to client. Our Director of Senior Care Services or our Geriatric Care Manager will conduct an initial interview with your family and the Senior involved and put together an individualized service plan. That plan will dictate the starting parameters of care when it comes to bathing and/or restroom assistance. Along the way, there will be changes and our caregivers may begin to make recommendations for this kind of care. We will consult with the client and family on how to best deal with limitations as they develop. But rest assured, our caregivers are there to serve your every daily need.

Pet Care

Many seniors rely heavily on their pets' presence for companionship and emotional support. And, yet, as people get older, it becomes increasingly difficult to take care of pets. MBF Caregivers are pet lovers too and will schedule for the care and feeding of all pets, if requested.

Enhanced Engagement Programs and Concierge Services

Our clients typically have busy social schedules. They are active in church. They attend plays, musicals and movies. They like to visit their country club or play cards with their friends. They like to keep doing “new” things to stimulate their mind and social life. We will of course provide assistance to the Client and/or Caregiver to help keep the activity level appropriate. Emergency Assistance and Enhanced Security

Unfortunately, it is common for seniors to lose their equilibrium and balance over the course of time. Thus, they are more prone to falling than the general population. Without a steady presence in the home, a senior can fall and sometimes have no way to reach the outside world or get medical assistance. With an MBF caregiver in the home on a routine basis, you can sleep easier at night knowing that a trained caregiver is watching out for you. Additionally, MBF caregivers receive security training prior to being placed in a Client’s home. This gives our caregivers better situational awareness and an eye for indications of abuse, neglect, exploitation or scams/cons that are traditionally committed against seniors.

Administrative Assistance

Caregiver helping with paperworkOur caregivers are trained to provide personal administrative assistance as well. This may include sorting mail, calendar management, scheduling vendors or appointments, and helping with records management. They can also assist with technology such as the computer or the telephone.
