It's important to be completely clear when you take a Dallas elder care position with Mom's Best Friend what our expectations will be. We promise our clients superior service, caregivers with servant hearts, and dignified, professional services. You may have had a Dallas elder care job that was not taking into consideration the unique needs of the clients, but we at Mom's Best Friend have a different level of expecations. We are selecting you because you have put your heart and soul into an elder care career and you have a heart for seniors. We want to answer specific questions we frequently are asked about our agency, but please contact us if you have additional questions.
Q: How long does it take to go through the process of becoming an MBF Senior Caregiver?
A: About two weeks depending on the availability and timing of the next iteration of the MBF Senior Care Service Training Program and the Caregiver’s diligence in completing necessary online training. Your point of contact during this time is our Staffing Specialist. She will be able to give you more detailed information about how long it might take to complete the process under given circumstances.
Q: What are MBF caregivers paid?
A: Typically, our caregivers receive $10 per hour. Occasionally, there is reason for us to pay a slightly higher rate due to a caregiver’s background, training and demonstrated professionalism or expertise.
Q: Do I have to be a nurse or have a medical background to become an MBF Caregiver?
A: No. We carry a Personal Assistance Services license only which allows our caregivers to provide in home personal assistance services. These services are non-medical in nature. The services cover all assistance with activities of daily living and then our unique lines of service dedicated to a more luxurious customer service experience. The law only requires that you be qualified to provide personal assistance services. You can receive this training through our Administrator.
Q: What are the minimum requirements to become an MBF Caregiver?
A: Initial minimum requirements include:
- Must have a passion for caring for Senior Adults and be willing to provide superior service at all times.
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must have reliable means of transportation.
- Must have access to a computer for training purposes.
- Must be willing to assist with Activities of Daily Living, such as: bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transfer/ambulation, escort, routine hair/skin care, exercise, shopping and assistance with self-administered medication.
- Must be interested in engaging clients through special activities that fall within their interests and hobbies
