At Mom’s Best Friend, we are proud that our reputation for exceptional, experienced nannies and sitters continues to exceed family expectations. In order to reach out to the community, we are pleased to announce an Apprentice Program, providing nanny instruction to beginner caregivers through supervised, hands-on training. Kathy Dupuy, owner and founder of Mom’s Best Friend, commented, “We see the apprentice program as an opportunity to bring additional trained nannies and sitters to Austin families”.
The Apprentice Program will provide valuable on-the-job experience, preparing the caregiver for a professional career path by providing an experienced, veteran Nanny as their coach.
Each coach is a Mom’s Best Friend nanny who has completed the rigorous screening process and is currently working as a professional nanny or temporary nanny (sitter) with MBF families. The apprentice will choose either a permanent or temporary training path where the coach will train them for 40 or 25 (unpaid) hours respectively. Coaches will follow the training objectives outlined in the program curriculum, encouraging and providing tips, and teaching by example and through hands-on experience.
How Do I Get Started as an Apprentice?
While the experience and training are wonderful reasons to become an apprentice, we find that most nannies join our program because of the potential to be placed through Austin’s highest caliber nanny agency. Our team matches each nanny with a fantastic family that is most suitable to their location, qualifications, requirements, and personality.
To become an Apprentice, you must:
Upon successful completion of either of the apprentice program paths, you will be eligible, but not obligated, to become an MBF temporary nanny (sitter). Those on the permanent path will be eligible for long-term permanent placement after three months completion as a temporary nanny.
How Do I Become a Coach?
Mom’s Best Friend Coaches are veteran nannies, sharing their wealth of knowledge with apprentice nannies who are eager to learn. Being a coach means that you not only receive an extra hand with your charges, but that you will have a wonderful addition to your resume.
To become a Coach:
- You must be a current nanny or temporary nanny working for MBF families in good standing.
- You will be assigned a nanny candidate who will shadow you in your job(s). All families participating in the program must complete a family approval form.
- You must agree to supervise 40 (permanent)/25 (temporary) hours of apprentice training with MBF materials, including time logs and evaluations.
- You will encourage, guide and support your apprentice to the best of your ability, including following up with her following completion of the program.
