Job Responsibilities
(How will I be assisting seniors?)
When we identify potential senior caregivers for Mom's Best Friend, we are not just looking for those that have previously had experience with a Fort Worth home care position. You see, we are looking for someone with a heart for enhancing the lives of seniors, not simply someone who will view this as a Fort Worth home care job. Our senior caregiving responsibilities are not one-size-fits-all like other elder care companies, because we customize each position to the specific needs of the clients. This requires a truly giving, selfless caregiver who desires a long-term home care career.
Why Caregivers Choose to get a Senior Care Job through MBF:
In order to equip all of our caregivers, we provide extensive training so that they might be able to serve in any number of capacities, including:
Companionship: We have a tremendous reputation for being able to find “special” people to come alongside our client families and really help. This may involve being a steady companion or just someone to check in from time to time.
Medication Reminders: Many seniors are on important medications and they need to be reminded to take them on a daily basis. You will ensure that our clients are staying on track with their medications.
Light Housekeeping and Home Revitalization: When caregivers are passive, they miss opportunities to radically improve the lives of seniors by just helping out around the house. Our caregivers take the initiative in the home and transform the living spaces of our clients on an active, consistent basis. Standard operating procedures covered in training include daily checklists for typical problems in the senior home such as pet dander, odor eradication, dilapidation issues, yard and garden maintenance, and cost of living management.
Executive Laundry including Apparel Selection and Management: As the years move by, sometimes clothing and apparel can become a secondary issue. Because many of our clients have lived their entire lives with high standards in this regard, we help our senior clients keep their wardrobe fresh and up to date. Our caregivers learn how to manage a wardrobe and keep it functional. They learn how to keep our seniors in appropriate clothing and even help them shop for clothing if necessary.

Appetizing Light Meals and Grocery Shopping: As our clients get older, meals become more and more important. This time in life provides a special opportunity to savor good food. As part of our senior care training program, our caregivers are provided with basic training from our Personal Chef consultant on appetizing menus for our clients, specifically tailored to seniors. You will learn everything from how to shop for goods and produce, to the actual preparation of the meals and the cleanup.
Mobility and Executive Transporation Services: Mobility is another critical issue for seniors. You will assist seniors with walking, exercising, getting into or out of bed or into or out of a wheelchair, if necessary. You will also provide professional, safe and easy auto transportation (mileage is reimbursed at a competitive rate; you may also drive the client’s auto upon request).
Assistance with Daily Activities of Living (including Bathing/Restroom Assistance): You will be there to assist with any of the most basic needs of daily living, varying client by client. Along the way, there may be changes as limitations develop.
Pet Care: Many seniors rely heavily on their pets' presence for companionship and emotional support. And, yet, as people get older, they have a tougher time taking care of pets. You will care and feed pets as needed.
Enhanced Engagement Programs and Concierge Services: Our clients typically have busy social schedules. They are active in church. They attend plays, musicals and movies. They like to visit their country club or play cards with their friends. They like to keep doing “new” things to stimulate their mind and social life. Caregivers will plan, schedule and attend engagements as requested.
Administrative Assistance: You will be trained in our Personal Assistant Training Program, giving you an understanding of how best to assist seniors in areas such as sorting mail, calendar management, scheduling vendors or appointments, helping with records management, and assistance with technology such as the computer or telephone.
Surgery Recovery: From time to time, you may be asked to provide post operative assistance. This may include medication reminders, transportation and scheduling, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and emotional support. This care is not limited to Seniors.
