Cost-Saving Nanny Ideas

(Do you have any ways to reduce my costs?)

Our Fort Worth client families value the personal attention, and flexibility and convenience that an in-home caregiver offers. However, now more than ever, families are often looking for cost-savings nanny options. In order to help families be more frugal without sacrificing the essentials, Mom’s Best Friend has been working collaboratively with families to find creative options to fit each family. Contact your placement team for additional information on any of the following options, or to begin a search.

Share a Nanny

When two families come together with a common need, Mom's Best Friend can provide both families with an extremely cost-effective solution. The nanny sharing program matches two families – either friends, neighbors, or families with similar conditions (i.e., nearby locations, nanny experience/education requirements) – to one fantastic nanny. Please note: at this time, we are unfortunately unable to provide matching services; both families must join Mom's Best Friend together to initiate a search. Nanny-share ratios typically still fall well under that of the average daycare, and include the added benefits of more one-on-one attention, a familiar home environment, extra household help, less commute time, and decreased illnesses. Families each pay the Membership Fee, and then split both the placement fee and the salary, making what was once out of reach, within their means.

Nanny with own ChildNanny with a Child

Many experienced, veteran nannies have small children of their own that they would love to bring with them to their nanny positions. When families are open to a caregiver who brings along her own child, they not only gain a playmate for their child, but they receive a discounted hourly rate. This cost-effective pairing is a win-win solution for both the families and the nanny.

Live-In Nanny

Hiring a live-in nanny is a strong option because it leverages your existing space - typically a separate bedroom and bathroom - to lower the costs. Because the nanny is living in the home rent-free, the hourly/weekly salary is reduced. This option benefits the nanny by providing both stable employment and housing, and eliminates commute time.

Flexible Employer Schedules

As many businesses transition to 4-day work weeks, flexible schedules, and work-at-home arrangements, families are sometimes are able to stagger schedules with their spouse in order to reduce their nanny’s schedule. This can vary from cutting back several hours per day up to one-two days per week.
